Husbandry
Husbandry is the the care, cultivation, and breeding of crops and animals and also the management and conservation of resources. Husband comes from the Norse word for House+Farm or House+Master, in reference to the head of a household.
For most societies in history, the natural human hierarchy has been the family with the mother and father over the children, with the father as the leading authority figure (husband). His word (dictate) is law (dictatorship).
Multiple families constituted a tribe with the typical system of government being some form of a hierarchy of the eldest males or noble family. Indeed, the Roman Republic was originally governed by a council of elders known as the senate. Senator comes from the Latin word for old man.
Most forms of government replace the family with the government by treating adults like children. Jefferson Davis, as a US Senator from Mississippi, made a similar argument when speaking on civil government in the Senate on Feb 29, 1860. He said
“The condition of slavery with us is, in a word, Mr. President, nothing but the form of civil government instituted for a class of people not fit to govern themselves. It is exactly what in every State exists in some form or other. It is just that kind of control which is extended in every northern State over its convicts, its lunatics, its minors, its apprentices. It is but a form of civil government for those who by their nature are not fit to govern themselves.”
In Mississippi, ever since replacing the Confederate Battle Flag as the state flag because it represents slavery, governor Tate Reeves has been dictating the law from his slave mansion without any sense of irony. Indeed, he is often ridiculed for not being enough of a leader (führer) in regards to his random mask mandates.
Like during the time of Rome, some people want both our council of elders (the legislature) and the Constitution to be replaced by a commanding father figure (emperor). They want a strong man to tell them what to do.
They want a husband.
I’d rather listen to the Founding Fathers.
