Red Flag Laws Are Red Coat Laws
On April 19, 2023, the President of the USA and the governor of Tennessee announced that he wanted more gun control laws- either outright confiscating Americans’ weapons or using red flag laws to selectively confiscate weapons. Considering that the battles of Lexington and Concord occurred on April 19, 1775, red flag laws are Red Coat laws.
On April 19th, President Biden tweeted out,[1]
“Ban assault weapons – it’s beyond time.”
King George III would agree.
The governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee, put out a 6 minute video where he said that gun control should follow due process of law, and then proceeded to show how the new law would take away someone’s liberty and property if they are deemed dangerous by the authorities without due process.
At minute 4:30, Governor Lee said,
“In Tennessee, right now, if a husband threatens to hurt his wife, an order of protection would temporarily restrict his access to weapons, to protect his spouse. If that same man threatens to shoot himself, church, or a mall, our proposal would provide that same level of protection to the broader public.”
Threatening to kill people is something that most juries would agree should result in someone losing their liberty to be armed and their property in the form of weapons. Shooting the person making threats in defense of ones self or others probably won’t get a conviction if the jury agrees that the person was a threat. However, that is up to the jury.
The entire point of having a jury of one’s peers vote, via due process of law, is so that people can’t use the government to take away the rights of citizens that they don’t like or deem to be dangerous. Governor Lee just doesn’t think that juries will vote to take away enough peoples’ rights because the jury is used to protect our rights.
Taking away someones liberty because some random person said that they seem dangerous is called a red flag law. A red flag is used to indicate danger, like strong rip tides at the beach. The entire point of red flag laws is to avoid due process.
Red flag laws are really Red Coat laws because on April 19, 1775, the army tried to enforce common sense gun control by stealing the weapons stored by the militia at Concord, Massachusetts. Wearing red coats, the soldiers were known as “red coats.”
On April 19th, 1775, General Gage, appointed as Governor of Massachusetts by King George, sent the military to Concord, Massachusetts to confiscate the arms of the local British colonial militia and to arrest Sons of Liberty members John Hancock and Samuel Adams.
Along the way from Boston, in Lexington, some of the militia made a show of strength, the army ordered them to disperse, someone fired the first shot, the army then fired a volley, and the American Revolutionary War began. No one knows who fired the “shot heard round the world;” but, by the end of the day, the army had advanced to Concord. Then the rest of the local militia reorganized and attacked the army using guerrilla war tactics. They almost caused the army to fall apart and route back to Boston, after being only able to destroy a few munitions.[3]
Today is also the 30th anniversary of the USA murdering the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas on April 19, 1993. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) believed that Branch Davidian leader, David Koresh, had illegally stored weapons in his compound. Instead of arresting him while he was jogging, they decided to lay seige to the compound and eventually murdered 80 people (mostly in a fire).[4]
Democrats and RINOs want Americans disarmed for the same reason that King George and slave owners wanted their servants disarmed: exploitation.
