The End of Western Hegemony

French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin both believe that the West is losing hegemony over the world.

Macron said on August 27th, 2019 at a press conference,[1]

“The international order is being shaken in an unprecedented manner, above all with, if I may say so, by the great upheaval that is undoubtedly taking place for the first time in our history, in almost every field and with a profoundly historic magnitude. The first thing we observe is a major transformation, a geopolitical and strategic re-composition. We are undoubtedly experiencing the end of Western hegemony over the world.”

Speaking at the Russian Engergy Week 2019 conference, Putin said,[2][3]

“The dollar enjoyed great trust around the world. But for some reason it is being used as a political weapon, imposing restrictions. Many countries are now turning away from the dollar as a reserve currency. US dollar will collapse soon."

Who knows?

“Lenin was certainly right. There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose." -John Maynard Keynes, The Economic Consequences of the Peace, Chapter VI pg 236
